Hearing Start Time: 9:43 AM Court noted the presence of counsel and the defendant and stated that the defendant is in custody.

9:44 AM Court advised the defendant of his rights.

9:45 AM Upon inquiry from the Court, the defendant stated that he understood.

Court read the Criminal Complaint, charging the defendant with Burglary, in Count I, Murder in the First Degree, in Count II, Murder in the First Degree, in Count III, Murder in the First Degree, in Count IV, and Murder in the First Degree in Count V, and advised of maximum penalties.

9:49 AM Upon inquiry from the Court, the defendant stated that he understood the charge, penalties and rights.

Court noted that the defendant has completed an Application for Attorney at Public Expense.

Court appointed Anne Taylor.

Upon inquiry from the Court, Ms. Taylor stated that she has spoken with the defendant regarding a speedy preliminary hearing, and moved to set this case for a status in a week or two to make the final determination. Mr. Thompson stated that there was no objection.

Court set this case for status on January 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM.

9:50 AM Ms. Taylor moved for the Court to consider bail in this matter, but stated that she is making limited argument at this time due to being newly appointed.

9:51 AM Mr. Thompson presented argument on bond.

Pursuant to ICR 46 (b), IC 19-816, 2903, Court remanded the defendant to the custody of the Latah County Sheriff without bail, pending further order of the Court.

Mr. Thompson moved for the issuance of several No Contact Orders. Mr. Thompson stated that he has spoken briefly with Ms. Taylor who has indicated that there is no objection. Ms. Taylor confirmed that this is correct.

9:52 AM Court reviewed the No Contact Orders. Court stated that the defendant will be provided copies of each No Contact Order with each of their names.

9:53 AM Court reviewed the terms and conditions of the No Contact Order. Court advised the defendant of the potential penalties should the defendant violate the terms of the No Contact Order.

9:55 AM Court issued each No Contact Order for a period of two (2) years and stated that it can be modified in the future as needed.
