SPEAKER_01: So I I I want that to be clear, man.
SPEAKER_01: I I know you're going through a pretty hard time, and I'm I'm aware of that.
SPEAKER_01: We're just trying to put all the pieces together.
SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: So
SPEAKER_01: were you were you with Ethan at all that night or the or the day before?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.

SPEAKER_01: Can you just walk me through what just your guys' interaction that night?
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't I don't really I'm happy.
SPEAKER_00: He, like, came and go.
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
SPEAKER_00: Just saying what's up he said or whatever.
SPEAKER_00: And then it's not like we never we never really talked that much that night because I was off doing my own thing.

SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Well, hey.
SPEAKER_01: Listen, man.
SPEAKER_01: I we're the reason we're doing this is is we're we're just trying to put together all the pieces of of everything that happened that night.
SPEAKER_01: And so Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Like, to talking to friends, talking to family, people who, like you know, he was around and that sort of thing, that's that just really helps us kinda get a get a picture.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: You know what
SPEAKER_00: I mean?
SPEAKER_00: Meetings in there.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: I I I know it's rough, man.
SPEAKER_01: I really do.
SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
SPEAKER_01: We're just trying to we're trying to do right by by everybody here who who shouldn't have died that night.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: So we're just trying to get to the bottom of it.
SPEAKER_01: You said you said it was
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Is that spelled like normal or or how exactly?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Normal
SPEAKER_01: Like
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And where where were you guys?
SPEAKER_00: We were at Simakai.
SPEAKER_01: So at the same
SPEAKER_00: most of the night.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
SPEAKER_00: And then yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Where'd you guys go from there?
SPEAKER_00: And then she went to bed early, and then me and a couple of my buddies went over to the White's.
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you know where that's at.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: That's it's been a second since I've been here.
SPEAKER_01: Do you know the address for that?
SPEAKER_01: Who's so you you said Matt the bed, and you went over you and some buddies went to the Whites?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Who'd who'd you go to the Whites with?
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: What what time about did you get there, do remember?
SPEAKER_00: Probably, like, 01:30.
SPEAKER_00: It was really late.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And whose mem whose room or what room number did you get up to?
SPEAKER_00: Jeez.
SPEAKER_00: I can't I
SPEAKER_01: That specific apartment or the whole complex?
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
SPEAKER_00: That specific apartment.
SPEAKER_00: Okay.

SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: We're just hanging out
SPEAKER_00: because we weren't tired.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And I guess the this something I I'm telling everybody as we talk to them, I I don't know how old you are.
SPEAKER_01: I I honestly I don't care if I've discovered that that you were drinking alcohol or that other people were.
SPEAKER_01: That's really not the that's really not the the relevancy of what we're what we're dealing with.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_01: So, like, if I for instance, like, we discover that people, oh, they smoked weed yesterday or they they drank and they're not 21.
SPEAKER_01: I I literally don't care, and nobody does.
SPEAKER_01: We're we're we're obviously looking at something a lot bigger.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_01: So, like, I I don't want I don't want, like I don't want an apprehension or a fear of, like, yeah, I don't know, admitting to a cop that you drank.
SPEAKER_01: I don't want that to, like, prevent us from from finding out what we need to know.
SPEAKER_01: So, like, there's it's kind of a kind of a freeze on it in that respect if that makes sense.
SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: How long were you at the

SPEAKER_00: I did not.
SPEAKER_00: No.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.

SPEAKER_00: I did not.
SPEAKER_00: No.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Help me alright.
SPEAKER_01: So when you when you went back when you went back to the when you went back to Sigma Chi, did you happen to walk past or go or or go by the by the crime scene at all?
SPEAKER_00: I did I did we just went straight out and then straight across to McKay.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_00: But yeah.
SPEAKER_01: So can you help me can I guess, since I'm I think I'm picturing the map right in my mind, but can you just can you just, like like, explain what the route when you how you went back?
SPEAKER_00: So you walk out the door of the apartment.
SPEAKER_00: You walk down the stairs of the apartments, and then there's a parking lot.
SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00: And then the road is connected to the parking lot, not King Street, but, like, that I don't know what that other road is.
SPEAKER_00: But and then you just go straight to Sumatown.
SPEAKER_00: Like, there's no buildings yet to pass.
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
SPEAKER_00: More across the grass and then goes.
SPEAKER_01: K.
SPEAKER_01: So hang on.
SPEAKER_01: I'm looking at a map real quick.
SPEAKER_01: I just wanna make sure I have the right thing in mind.
SPEAKER_01: Let me get my Zoom thing.
SPEAKER_01: That makes sense what I'm looking at here.
SPEAKER_01: I'm just trying to get you know, make sure we're talking about the same thing.
SPEAKER_00: One sec.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And it did the three of you guys go back together?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Alright.
SPEAKER_01: And are you at at Sigma Chi, do you have your own room with, like, common areas, or do you, like, share rooms?
SPEAKER_00: It's like an apart our Sigma Chi is, like, an apartment style.
SPEAKER_00: So we we actually all live in the same apartment.
SPEAKER_00: Oh, shit.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: But, like, I'm saying, do you have, like, your own bedroom?
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: That's alright.
SPEAKER_01: So so about 03:30, you leave the Whites, go back to Sigma Chi.
SPEAKER_01: Were were your other roommates home when you got there?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Everyone was asleep, though.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And and then so after you got back to your place, what what'd you do then?
SPEAKER_00: I think I made some food, and then I went to bed.
SPEAKER_01: Do you remember about what time you would have crashed?
SPEAKER_01: Alright.
SPEAKER_01: So you said you're you said, obviously, you're pretty close with Ethan.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: How about how long had had he and Xana been dating?
SPEAKER_00: Since last before summer.
SPEAKER_00: So, like, before school.
SPEAKER_00: We got out last year.
SPEAKER_00: So probably, like, seven months.
SPEAKER_00: Six months, maybe.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And do you know how often that I guess, how often would you stay over there with Xana?
SPEAKER_00: Often.
SPEAKER_01: Like I I know nothing's definite, but, like, once a week, five days a week, like, every night, what like, what are you thinking?
SPEAKER_01: Like like, on average, just kinda like an estimate.
SPEAKER_01: You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00: Estimate?
SPEAKER_00: I'd say probably, like, six times a week.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_00: I I honestly, like, don't know for sure, but that seems about right.
SPEAKER_01: Sure.
SPEAKER_01: So because it was obvious it was obvious that they were really close.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: It seemed like the relation was did the relationship seem pretty pretty good?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: It did.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: So was it kinda those, like, hey.
SPEAKER_01: I keep my apartment because I I keep my stuff there, and I that's where I get my mail and where you know?
SPEAKER_01: I don't if things will live, but I'm pretty much just crashing with my my chick most of, like, six nights a week except for this?
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: When I guess, when when would he not stay there?
SPEAKER_01: I guess, what would what would cause him to stay at his own place or or stay elsewhere?
SPEAKER_00: Maybe because, like, school.
SPEAKER_00: Like, he had an early class lesson.
SPEAKER_00: I didn't really know his schedule that much because he wasn't living in the fraternity, so I didn't, like, know when he had class.
SPEAKER_00: And
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: So, like, maybe if he had, like, an early class, he'd just stay home.
SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01: So pretty pretty pretty much he just I mean, aside from except for keeping his stuff there, he he pretty much lived there lived with his aunt?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Like okay.
SPEAKER_00: Do you so.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: So you and Ethan were at the same Sigma Sigma Chi party.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Do you know where Ethan went after he left?
SPEAKER_01: Well, let me let me back up.
SPEAKER_01: Do you know do you know when Ethan left the party?
SPEAKER_00: I do not know.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: When when did you I guess, when when did you find out that Ethan wasn't there anymore, if you remember?
SPEAKER_00: I don't I I don't like like I said, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01: Sure.
SPEAKER_01: And and, hey, man.
SPEAKER_01: I I get it.
SPEAKER_01: If you if there's something that you, like, don't remember, it's I don't want I'm not asking you to, like, try to, like, guess and, like, give your best if you guess, that's fine.
SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm you can't remember stuff that doesn't exist in your mind.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_01: So that's it's it's it's fine if there's a question I ask that you don't that you can't hang with.
SPEAKER_01: You know?
SPEAKER_01: Is there was there, like, a was there, like, a planned after party, or was there some kind of event or activity that that members of your fraternity were gonna do after that party?
SPEAKER_00: I don't think so.
SPEAKER_00: No.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: There wasn't, like, a like, an after party or, like, a secondary, hey.
SPEAKER_00: Like, maybe maybe go over to the, like, what the whites, like, where I went later that night.
SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00: Like, that that was that's usually how it goes kinda.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_00: You go over there and hang out once the party gets shut down.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: That makes sense.
SPEAKER_01: Give me when when did you find out what had happened?
SPEAKER_00: Came right in.
SPEAKER_00: It's like I think it was, like, 12:00 the next day.
SPEAKER_00: Mhmm.
SPEAKER_00: So I get Ethan was unresponsive, and I was like, what?
SPEAKER_00: And I got up, and everyone was yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Sure.
SPEAKER_01: Did you know how how well did you know Xana?
SPEAKER_00: Pretty well.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: How about how about Maddie and Kaylee?
SPEAKER_00: I didn't know Maddie and Kaylee as well as I knew the other two.
SPEAKER_01: Would you describe yourselves as, like, friends, close friends, associates, or just kinda like how would how would that go?
SPEAKER_00: Like, Maddie and Kaylee, I'd be like I'd see them and say, hey, every once in a while, But we never really sat down and had, like, a, like, a long conversation and, like, hung out.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And you would it be fair to say that you knew Xana because you were pretty close with Ethan?
SPEAKER_01: Is that a fair is that a fair assessment?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: I knew well, last year, we hung out, like, all a couple of us bunch of us, and we guys, we used to go over to her old house where she used to live, and we hung out there all the time with them.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Did the did so I I know you did you didn't know Maddie and and Kaylee as well.

SPEAKER_01: Like, did she like where she was living?
SPEAKER_01: Did she like, like, her phase of the relationship?
SPEAKER_01: How how would how would you describe her just, like, personality wise and stuff as a whole?
SPEAKER_00: She was great.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Like, she she never ceased to, like, not put a smile on your face.
SPEAKER_00: She always seemed like same with Ethan.
SPEAKER_00: Like, I never saw those two in, like, a bad mood.
SPEAKER_01: Mhmm.
SPEAKER_00: But they were just, like, grumpy.
SPEAKER_00: They always have a smile on their face.
SPEAKER_01: Sure.
SPEAKER_01: Sure.
SPEAKER_01: Just kinda the kinda like the life of the like like life of the party people always made you feel better kinda thing.
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Did did Xana have any did she have any previous relation not with Ethan, but did she have, like, any previous relationship drama, or were there any, like, exes or something that were kinda like a problem or that went to the university that that was just what kinda ended on a bad note or anything like that that you know of?
SPEAKER_00: Not not that I know of.
SPEAKER_00: No.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Did you and and you didn't you did you know Xana before she started dating Ethan?
SPEAKER_00: I did.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: You did?
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: How how long before, I guess, did you know her?
SPEAKER_00: Since I got to college.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Did she ever have a boyfriend before Ethan?
SPEAKER_00: Not that I know of.
SPEAKER_00: No.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: And as as as that group as a whole, I I guess, did you know their other two roommates?
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Who were they?
SPEAKER_00: And
SPEAKER_01: and how, I guess, how how often would you how often would you go over to that place and hang out?
SPEAKER_01: Like, pretty frequently or, like, not very much, or what do you think?
SPEAKER_00: I mean, like, every once in a while.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_00: Like, I'd say, like, probably once a week, maybe once every two weeks.
SPEAKER_00: So
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_01: How how often did they kinda, like, host the party?
SPEAKER_00: Pretty often.
SPEAKER_00: Maybe, like jeez.
SPEAKER_00: I can once every two weeks, maybe once a week.
SPEAKER_01: And when we and, obviously, when I'm seeing this, like, I'm kinda meaning, like, a, like, legit house party, you know, like the like the big one of the area or or something like that.
SPEAKER_01: Is that fair to say?
SPEAKER_01: Like like, that was the place to be or what?
SPEAKER_00: Every once in while, they had, like, a bunch of people over there.
SPEAKER_00: But, like, a lot of times, it was just kinda chill
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_00: And hang up.
SPEAKER_01: On a Or on a typical party that they would have over there, how many people do you think would would would usually go to that?
SPEAKER_01: And I know it varies, like, if people come and go throughout the night, but I gue
