SPEAKER_00: So it's a lot here. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: There's a lot. SPEAKER_00: I was going to let so I'm sorry. SPEAKER_01: You don't have to SPEAKER_00: Can I start you? SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Hi, Gary. SPEAKER_00: How are you doing? SPEAKER_00: He loves everybody. SPEAKER_00: Hi, baby. SPEAKER_00: Hi. SPEAKER_01: You're pretty cheesy. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: He's two and a half pounds and four years old. SPEAKER_00: Oh, fuck. SPEAKER_00: Good dog, aren't you? SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: So, like, I was just saying, we're gonna just take it nice and easy. SPEAKER_01: Okay? SPEAKER_01: Um, so we have a map here if you need it. SPEAKER_01: Okay? SPEAKER_01: So, um, just let us know what else you need. SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take some SPEAKER_00: notes. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_01: But don't think I'm not paying attention to you or just SPEAKER_00: I'm not right. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: My brain doesn't work that great sometimes. SPEAKER_01: So I gotta write stuff down or I'll forget it. SPEAKER_01: Okay? SPEAKER_01: So I guess the first thing we'll do today is just kinda start, if you wouldn't mind, by, you know, when you got your first order that night and when you delivered your last one. SPEAKER_00: I mean, far as that when I went, I think I worked a total SPEAKER_02: of, like, eighteen hours that night. SPEAKER_00: So I mean, but it's a focus on here. SPEAKER_00: I mean, the three calls that I got from there were all relatively around the same time. SPEAKER_00: There was two calls to the apartment complex next to it, the the the brick apartment complex. SPEAKER_00: One was big order, large. SPEAKER_00: It's a weird name too. SPEAKER_00: He he put down a strange name. SPEAKER_00: I can't even remember what it was, but it was a it was some people like to play with the names Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: When they make orders, but it's definitely one of those. SPEAKER_00: Somebody's thrown around being a Of course. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: They were all Jack in the Mock order Jack in the Box orders too because at that time, nothing's all gonna be Jack in the Box around here. SPEAKER_00: The other one that I did was I think it I'm trying to remember, but same thing, that apartment. SPEAKER_00: It was in the center section. SPEAKER_00: By the time I got to that, the this the one that we're here for, It was my last apart last call for that night or for that pretty much evening. SPEAKER_00: In fact, when I got back from to check-in the box that night, they thought I wasn't coming back, and it's the wrong way of orders. SPEAKER_00: They had to remake my orders so I can deliver them because I didn't think I was coming back. SPEAKER_00: They thought I was good for the night. SPEAKER_00: Gotcha. SPEAKER_00: Have you been there at night at that house? SPEAKER_00: Yes. SPEAKER_00: I SPEAKER_01: have. SPEAKER_01: Yep. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: So you know that the number for the house is right there under the light, and it's very hard to see at night. SPEAKER_00: That was probably my biggest problem was trying to find the number. SPEAKER_00: I didn't actually realize that I was there Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Which is why I was probably there for about fifteen minutes. SPEAKER_00: And my clock or my my my Mac on my phone that tells me where to go kept telling me to go up and around Oh, yeah. SPEAKER_00: Instead of I actually initially pulled and parked up right there parked right right in front, I didn't see the number, so I didn't know. SPEAKER_00: My map kept telling me to go up and around and get in there. SPEAKER_00: I kinda walked around with my flashlights on on my on my phone trying to figure out where it was. SPEAKER_00: I remember when I pulled up, I saw the broom in the window that he told you about. SPEAKER_00: I put that top window on the left. SPEAKER_00: I I would swear that she was swinging on a a hammock or something, but she could've just been on the top of the bed or something. SPEAKER_00: It just it seemed odd because she was watching me. SPEAKER_00: Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: And, usually, when you do an order and that's somebody sees you, if that's where it's from, they they see you. SPEAKER_00: They come running down to the door whether it's a no contact order or not. SPEAKER_00: And she jumped right down as soon as she saw me and saw that I saw her. SPEAKER_00: I noticed several times as I was walking around and trying to find the place, she would pop back up in the window. SPEAKER_00: Now let's see her. SPEAKER_00: Again. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: Thank you. SPEAKER_01: Those are pretty good. SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're SPEAKER_00: pretty good. SPEAKER_00: They have a there you go. SPEAKER_00: So I thought it was weird that she catch up. SPEAKER_00: You know, get out of the window. SPEAKER_00: Long brown haired younger girl. SPEAKER_00: You know, there were parties going on all around. SPEAKER_00: There was, noise. SPEAKER_00: I mean, they were everywhere. SPEAKER_00: At one point, I remember I got in my car, and I actually drove up here to see because I thought maybe there was a road that that's why my mother was trying to tell me to go up there. SPEAKER_00: And I parked up there because it didn't go any further, and, um, I stopped. SPEAKER_00: And, um, and I parked, and I got out, and I was walking around with my flashlight. SPEAKER_00: And I was looking through the bushes, and I could see the inside courtyard and all the lights and everything was open. SPEAKER_00: And that's where the map was trying to get me to go, but I didn't feel comfortable going in there because there was no path. SPEAKER_00: It just seemed odd to have you walk in that way. SPEAKER_00: It seemed like a backdoor. SPEAKER_00: There was no apartment numbers on the order or anything. SPEAKER_00: It was just the house number. SPEAKER_00: There were no directions or any kind of clue to tell me to go that way. SPEAKER_00: Right. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: But I do remember that when I was walking with my flashlight on that road, you know, there's nobody out there, and it's dark. SPEAKER_00: And I'm a girl, and I've got a flashlight. SPEAKER_00: A car came driving by. SPEAKER_00: It was a sedan. SPEAKER_00: It was, um, tan. SPEAKER_00: And the gentleman that was driving, I remember it because it was odd that he did not look at me. SPEAKER_00: You know, when you see a girl out there walking around with a flashlight, you look. SPEAKER_00: You see what's going on in her throat. SPEAKER_00: Nothing. SPEAKER_00: Just completely zoned and out of it almost. SPEAKER_00: And that's why I thought it was odd that he just drove by me. SPEAKER_00: There was no sucking or anything. SPEAKER_00: And I I eventually walked back up to my car, got my car, drove down, and I was like, this has gotta be the house the way the numbers are going. SPEAKER_00: And so I pulled into the drive in there, and that's when I noticed that the light had been blocking the numbers. SPEAKER_00: And so I I jumped out of the car, and I put the the bag by the door because, I mean, I guess it is apartments now. SPEAKER_00: It's coming out, but there was nothing. SPEAKER_00: She told me that that was apartments and it needed to be directed at a certain place, so I just left it at the door and snapped a picture, and then I left. SPEAKER_00: And and we almost started probably I'd say fifteen minutes. SPEAKER_00: It was a while of me walking around to find it because I remember being stressed out. SPEAKER_00: That's the time. SPEAKER_00: Because DoorDash should get What was this SPEAKER_01: since you're time unit or something? SPEAKER_00: You get paid by your delivery, so you only get so much per delivery. SPEAKER_00: Um, they are doing a, um, a trial right now where they're actually paying me by the hour because I have really high stars. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Except for my time is really bad because I always get orders that nobody else wants to do or they've been rejected. SPEAKER_00: And so my time, my stars are, like, way down bad. SPEAKER_00: So I've been actually doing better with the by by the hour wage, but still fifteen minutes to be looking for one address is a little ridiculous and so many parties and so many people, and I felt uncomfortable. SPEAKER_00: Then I remember seeing it's an odd thing, but, like, underwear and stuff in the street. SPEAKER_00: And I was like, what the heck? SPEAKER_00: This is so weird. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: And it had been my third time there that night. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: And the girl popping in and out of the window was strange, but never coming down. SPEAKER_01: K. SPEAKER_01: So so when she left at the at the door, then then what? SPEAKER_00: Oh, I just got in my car and left. SPEAKER_00: And I went to uh, I went through campus, and I hit the light, um, as you're coming to Winco, and I got another order to email my phone. SPEAKER_00: So I went back to Pullman to check-in the box, and I went there, and he had told me my order. SPEAKER_00: So he remade my order, and I got sent to a a dorm in Beaumont. SPEAKER_00: It was my last delivery to Moscow, actually. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: So it was those three ones. SPEAKER_00: They were just like bang, bang, bang Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: That little bit of time. SPEAKER_00: I was there so many times just back and forth. SPEAKER_00: It was double orders to every time. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: One of them I actually delivered to an apartment in this one here. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: And So Yeah. SPEAKER_01: There's also that is quite the party spot down there. SPEAKER_01: Especially those Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Right there. SPEAKER_01: Those are super SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: These yeah. SPEAKER_00: I was really surprised how much was going on down there. SPEAKER_00: Because there seemed like there was problems here, here, down here. SPEAKER_00: They were just everywhere. SPEAKER_00: There was so much noise. SPEAKER_00: So much music, and it was so loud. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: All all football games, I think, probably don't. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: It usually does. SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna kinda go back to something real quick. SPEAKER_01: First of you said you said you were for, like, eighteen hours. SPEAKER_01: Is that normal for you? SPEAKER_00: Um, when I get going like that, yeah, I will. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: I'll clock in and clock out. SPEAKER_00: DoorDash is pretty, uh, I think the reason I like it, I just started doing it recently because I have a hard time with my history. SPEAKER_00: I can clock in and clock out as I want. SPEAKER_00: I don't have to schedule. SPEAKER_00: I don't have to keep to things. SPEAKER_00: I can something that comes up, I'm not gonna lose my job because I don't make my shift. SPEAKER_00: Yep. SPEAKER_00: And so when I get going and things are going good for the night, I will I'll go I'll just keep going. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: No. SPEAKER_01: I I'm just kinda familiar with how it works, but and and I'm just anything else. SPEAKER_01: So do you I mean, do you make, like, on a on a good night, like, this night, do you make, what, a couple $100? SPEAKER_00: 1,000. SPEAKER_00: It it depends because of gas. SPEAKER_00: Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: Because you have SPEAKER_02: to pay for your gas. SPEAKER_00: Of course. SPEAKER_00: And then you're eating too and munching. SPEAKER_00: And so Yeah. SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was a good night, and I made good money that night. SPEAKER_00: Um, I could probably look it up and tell you how much I made in morning. SPEAKER_00: I'll take it there. SPEAKER_00: But, um, when you're talking about gas and my car, my tires were not so great, and I was having issues with my tires. SPEAKER_00: And I guess my front alignment was out, so my Subaru that normally gets 25, 26 miles to a gallon is actually down to 17. SPEAKER_00: I know. SPEAKER_00: So I did not make as much as I usually do, which is probably why I was pushing it even longer because, yeah, I was trying to make bill money. SPEAKER_00: I gotcha. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: So SPEAKER_01: So how long you said you just started. SPEAKER_01: How long you've been? SPEAKER_00: Um, I actually, um, hired on with them probably about a year ago, but I actually didn't start Dashing. SPEAKER_00: It took me a really long time. SPEAKER_00: Probably six months ago before I actually signed off and started doing actively doing it. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: And, actually, when I came on to do this, I'd actually just taken about a month and a half SPEAKER_01: off Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: And, you know, dashed for a little bit. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: My my boyfriend, Jimmy, he wanted me to take some time off. SPEAKER_00: I also take care of my my special needs brother, and I've been taking care of him for about eighteen years now. SPEAKER_00: He's mild retardation. SPEAKER_00: And my eldest son, I mean, he recently left and was not on good terms. SPEAKER_00: He kinda left in the middle of the night, and so that's been a battle. SPEAKER_00: And then his dad moved in, and then he passed away in my bathroom. SPEAKER_00: And then my daughter actually my she was 15 at the time. SPEAKER_00: She got really close with one of his friends, and they are taking me to court and deeming me unfit and saying a lot of stuff about me, and I haven't seen her about two years now. SPEAKER_00: So it's been a lot on me. SPEAKER_00: Absolutely. SPEAKER_00: And I've been also been taking care of my husband's best friend who was causing a lot of problems for me, and I was losing my home. SPEAKER_00: And he actually just I stayed at my boyfriend's house, and he actually sold stuff in my house. SPEAKER_00: And now I have somebody squatting in my house that I'm not even happy with that. SPEAKER_00: It's there, and they've destroyed my house, and I have to go get them out and fix it. SPEAKER_00: And so it's a lot of stuff. SPEAKER_00: And you want me to just Yeah. SPEAKER_00: So keep them for enough. SPEAKER_00: You've had too much going on. SPEAKER_00: You need to just Absolutely. SPEAKER_00: It's like I work I work good. SPEAKER_00: I can make the bills. SPEAKER_00: Just stay home and rest. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: So I actually just had been working for the last, I think, week or two. SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh. SPEAKER_00: Months. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Coming back on from that. SPEAKER_01: And that's a wise choice. SPEAKER_01: I mean, I you know, it's just from talking to you that you've been through more than most people should ever have to, for sure. SPEAKER_01: It sounds like you go kind of above and beyond to take care of other people too, which is SPEAKER_00: It's hard to do. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: I don't want people to have to go through stuff that I've gone through. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Absolutely. SPEAKER_01: Make things easier for them. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: So kinda going back to when you delivered, can you kinda I was kinda watching it, but can you kinda just show me your path as best you remember? SPEAKER_00: Um, I pulled up right here right by the dumpster there. SPEAKER_00: That's where I initially parked. SPEAKER_00: Gotcha. SPEAKER_00: Um, and sitting there looking around and trying to find things, um, I remember I got out, and I walked partway up and looked up here at this pathway Okay. SPEAKER_00: The road there, and my math's telling me to go in there. SPEAKER_00: Yep. SPEAKER_00: I have a tendency to end up walking half a mile from my car Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: Because my math tells me to. SPEAKER_00: So I actually don't wanna do that. SPEAKER_00: I was tired. SPEAKER_00: So I ended up turning around, coming back, getting in my car, and driving up there. SPEAKER_00: It was that the road didn't go any further. SPEAKER_00: Like, you maybe it went around or something to get there, but my map just kept telling me to go in, like, right into the middle center SPEAKER_01: courtyard. SPEAKER_01: Yep. SPEAKER_00: And I thought that was just weird. SPEAKER_00: But and then walking back down with my flashlight, which is when I saw the car, and still seeing again. SPEAKER_00: There was no pathway. SPEAKER_00: I was just double checking to make sure that I wasn't getting something wrong. SPEAKER_01: So I don't I don't mean to interrupt When you're back here looking around, can you kind of describe to me just what it looks like at that back patio? SPEAKER_00: It's so dark, and in between the trees, you could just see, like, lights Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: And, like, things were open. SPEAKER_00: I wanna say that it was, like, and inviting. SPEAKER_00: Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: It looked nice. SPEAKER_00: It looked, you know Yeah. SPEAKER_00: You could go back there, but I did not see a pathway that Right. SPEAKER_00: Leave it so it was okay for me to walk in the back of somebody's yard. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: So I didn't. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Perfect. SPEAKER_01: So then you start so you started walking back down. SPEAKER_01: Right? SPEAKER_00: Walked back down, and then I realized that, yeah, I didn't miss something. SPEAKER_00: I didn't not see a path, and I was checking again. SPEAKER_00: And so I I drove back down again because I walked back up to get my car. SPEAKER_00: Um, and I drove back down, and I ended up pulling up into the drive thinking maybe I could go on that way. SPEAKER_00: Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: Yep. SPEAKER_00: And I actually parked my car right at Katy Corner here because I saw the light finally. SPEAKER_00: I could tell that the light was hiding the numbers on the house. SPEAKER_00: Right. SPEAKER_00: And that's when I realized that that was the correct house Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: And my map wasn't off. SPEAKER_00: And that would be when I jumped out, and I put the bag right there by the door and took the picture. SPEAKER_00: And then I left because it was a no contact delivery. SPEAKER_00: Oh, SPEAKER_01: what? SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Yes. SPEAKER_00: Which means that I just take a picture, I send it, and I go. SPEAKER_00: I don't wait for anybody. SPEAKER_00: I don't look for anybody. SPEAKER_00: Because I think it's crazy. SPEAKER_01: No. SPEAKER_01: Thank you. SPEAKER_01: So when you're back up here, you know, I'm just gonna walk and make sure I fully understand. SPEAKER_01: So you're walking back to your car here, and and this is when you see the the car that you mentioned? SPEAKER_00: When I saw the car after I had already parked up here, and I was walking down. SPEAKER_00: Walking down. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: He was driving down. SPEAKER_00: We were right around here. SPEAKER_00: Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: He missed us. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_01: So you come around, so then you go and drop everything off. SPEAKER_01: Did you see the car again after that? SPEAKER_01: Did you They SPEAKER_00: did not. SPEAKER_00: They Okay. SPEAKER_00: It's just the only reason, like I said, I remembered it was because it was odd that he didn't look at me or wonder what the heck I was doing. SPEAKER_00: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: And he was very just, you know? SPEAKER_01: And look straight ahead. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: And there was SPEAKER_00: no nothing. SPEAKER_00: And so that's he wanted to be. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: Especially to be a girl Mhmm. SPEAKER_00: In the dark. SPEAKER_00: There's not a lot of light on that road. SPEAKER_01: No. SPEAKER_01: It's dark. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_00: And to be walking around with a flashlight and looking around and poking around somebody's yard Yeah. SPEAKER_00: You would think most people stop, and they're like, are you okay? SPEAKER_00: Right. SPEAKER_00: Think alright. SPEAKER_01: Especially early early morning. SPEAKER_01: Exactly. SPEAKER_00: It just seemed odd to me. SPEAKER_01: So when you and and I've been up there quite a bit, but, you know, the road's fairly narrow. S
