SPEAKER_01: This is, uh, detective Powell with the Idaho State Police. SPEAKER_01: How are you today? SPEAKER_02: I'm doing okay. SPEAKER_01: Is now a good time to talk? SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah. SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh. SPEAKER_01: So yeah. SPEAKER_01: Of course, we are working the Moscow homicides, and we had received a tip that mister Kohlberger had stayed at the Quality Inn possibly a few months back. SPEAKER_01: And we were trying to contact everybody that may have had contact with him there and your name came up. SPEAKER_02: So Oh. SPEAKER_02: Oh. SPEAKER_02: Oh. SPEAKER_02: Oh, SPEAKER_01: okay. SPEAKER_01: And can I ask, were you working the night of I believe it would be June 30 or the day of July 1 of this last year? SPEAKER_02: Prob what day does that set on? SPEAKER_02: Because usually, get a Monday and Tuesday off. SPEAKER_00: It's Thursday. SPEAKER_00: Thursday is the thirtieth, and Friday would have been the first. SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: You would have been working? SPEAKER_02: Yes. SPEAKER_02: I have. SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Do you remember having any interaction with mister Kohlberger? SPEAKER_02: No. SPEAKER_02: I don't. SPEAKER_02: But it's it's been a while. SPEAKER_02: I'll be trying to tell you. SPEAKER_02: I've seen so many faces so many people go by and stuff. SPEAKER_01: Sure. SPEAKER_01: Sure. SPEAKER_01: I totally understand that. SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_02: But see see, what I'm trying to figure see, there is a there is a time that when he did check-in, I saw over at the hotel, I saw the portfolio of when he checked into the hotel. SPEAKER_02: Mhmm. SPEAKER_02: But it wasn't me that checked him in. SPEAKER_02: It was someone else. SPEAKER_02: But I saw the time limit on him. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Would that have been SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_02: Because it was early in the evening when he did check-in. SPEAKER_02: Okay. SPEAKER_02: And SPEAKER_01: What time do you normally start work? SPEAKER_02: I usually start around about around about eleven around about 11:11 until seven. SPEAKER_01: Oh, so 11PM to seven? SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Oh, AM? SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Alright. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Do you re remember or recall anybody coming downstairs and, you know, asking you guys to reserve, like, a key card for any particular rooms to you know, so someone else can enter their room, you know? SPEAKER_01: Like SPEAKER_02: What was told to me was one of the girls told me that there was a room for what what was her name? SPEAKER_02: It was there was a keycard for one of the girls. SPEAKER_01: God. SPEAKER_01: When you say one of the girls, what do you mean? SPEAKER_02: One of the girls who were killed up there in Idaho. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: And this was told to you or you you saw this person SPEAKER_02: girls no. SPEAKER_02: One of the girls made up the key and what what is his name? SPEAKER_02: Cole I can't pronounce his name. SPEAKER_02: Cole Beck Becker or whatever he's saying. SPEAKER_01: Oh, Kohlberger? SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_02: He wanted a yeah. SPEAKER_02: He wanted a key for one of the girls, but she never showed up. SPEAKER_02: She was the one that made the key up and set it on the side in case the girl did show up. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_02: But she never showed. SPEAKER_01: Do you recall or remember seeing that card that night you were working? SPEAKER_02: I could've seen it, but and I put it to the side. SPEAKER_02: But I don't remember what room or anything. SPEAKER_02: I I'll be frank to tell you. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Well, I'd rather you be frank than make something up, you know, so I appreciate that. SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_02: But the but the person who you really wanna speak did you speak SPEAKER_01: sir, we did. SPEAKER_01: Yep. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Yep. SPEAKER_01: And we're just following up on things. SPEAKER_01: So Yeah. SPEAKER_00: Yep. SPEAKER_00: Now when you have keys like that made up for someone, are there any special instructions that are passed, and is there any protocol for instructions being passed along to you? SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah. SPEAKER_02: When I'll give you an example. SPEAKER_02: When someone say, hey. SPEAKER_02: I got someone like, a friend is coming in. SPEAKER_02: Right? SPEAKER_01: Mhmm. SPEAKER_02: First thing you do is you ask them for their ID. SPEAKER_02: You don't just slide off the key to someone who walks through the door. SPEAKER_01: K. SPEAKER_02: And I didn't see anyone, you know, give a key out to anyone, you know, because like I said, that person did not show up. SPEAKER_02: Okay. SPEAKER_02: And all of sudden, then, I guess, you know, the girl never showed up. SPEAKER_02: So I just sat there on the side, and that was it. SPEAKER_00: Okay. SPEAKER_00: Now do you recall having a set of instructions or keys that evening? SPEAKER_02: On that day I'm trying to trying to remember. SPEAKER_02: Like I said, there's so many times people do come in and they say they want keys, you know, and they got a friend coming in and, you know and I usually ask them if they got, like, ID. SPEAKER_02: If they ain't got no ID, they ain't getting no key. SPEAKER_02: That's for sure. SPEAKER_01: Right. SPEAKER_01: Yeah. SPEAKER_02: And I can't remember, but I do know it did not come in. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Now later in the morning, did you Mhmm. SPEAKER_01: Do you remember having any contact with mister Kohlberger in reference to his charges or anything? SPEAKER_02: No. SPEAKER_02: No. SPEAKER_02: I did not. SPEAKER_02: Okay. SPEAKER_02: No. SPEAKER_02: I did not. SPEAKER_02: Okay. SPEAKER_02: Because I left I left, you know, like I said, it is from from eleven until seven. SPEAKER_02: So, you know Yeah. SPEAKER_02: I just, you know, I just, you know, went you know, finished my job and everything, put out a little bit of the food and clocked out. SPEAKER_02: Gotcha. SPEAKER_02: Went home. SPEAKER_02: Yeah. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Okay. SPEAKER_01: Well, if we have anything else, any other questions or anything you think that we believe you might be able to help us with, is it okay if we contact you again? SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
